Fight Club

1999 · TMDB 8.4

Directed by David Fincher

A ticking-time-bomb insomniac and a slippery soap salesman channel primal male aggression into a shocking new form of therapy. Their concept catches on, with underground "fight clubs" forming in every town, until an eccentric gets in the way and ignites an out-of-control spiral toward oblivion.

I watched this when it came out at the age of 19. Thought it was the best film I'd ever seen. At the age of 44, I realise I didn't fully understand it. This film (and book) saw the future. It saw Andrew Tate and Russell Brand poison. It saw populism politics. It predicted every toxic masculinity trope used today. Just pathetic men being pathetic. Incredible!
