Privacy Policy

What we collect

KinoChain stores the account details you provide (email, name, password hash), your profile (username, display name, bio, avatar), and the film activity you create (diary entries, ratings, reviews, lists, tags, follow relationships, and private viewing-memory details such as where and with whom you watched, cinema information, personal reflections, notes, and unpublished drafts). If you subscribe to The KinoChain newsletter, we also store your email address, subscription timestamps, and an unsubscribe token.

How we use it

We use this information to run the service: authenticate you, show your journal and lists, respect your privacy settings, and display public activity to other members when you choose to share it. Location, companion, cinema, reflection, and draft details remain private to you unless a future feature explicitly asks you to share them. Newsletter emails are weekly editorial notes (one chain, one film, one idea) — not advertising blasts — and always include an unsubscribe link. We also record anonymous first-party exploration metrics (hashed session identifiers and which editorial surfaces you click between, such as film→chain) so we can improve discovery paths — never your email, account id, or advertising profiles.

Visibility

You control profile, diary, and list visibility (public, followers, or private). Public content may appear on film pages, member profiles, and the home feed. Private content, drafts, and viewing-memory details are only shown to you. Newsletter subscription status is not shown publicly.

Cookies & sessions

We use session cookies required to keep you signed in and to attribute anonymous exploration hops within a visit. Optional Google Analytics may load when a measurement ID is configured; it is used for aggregate pageview understanding only, not advertising. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Account deletion

You can delete your account from settings. This removes your profile, diary entries, lists, and related personal data from the live service. To stop newsletter email without deleting an account, use the unsubscribe link in any issue or contact us.

Film data

This product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb. Film metadata is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). Read TMDB's terms at https://www.themoviedb.org/documentation/api/terms-of-use.
