Smarter movie picks, every night

Most recommendation tools look at one streaming catalogue OR your diary — not both. Watch Tonight cross-references what you can actually access against what you've logged, so every recommendation comes from your real library and your real taste.

How it works

1

Connect

Link your Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby server. Add your Letterboxd diary. We pull in your library structure and viewing history.

2

Log

Keep journaling what you watch — the more you log, the sharper the algorithm gets at understanding your taste.

3

Get better picks

Every night, get recommendations pulled from films you actually own or can rent — not a generic "because you watched" list.

A recommendation from your own library

Imagine logging The Social Network, and Watch Tonight surfaces Zodiac — a film you already own on Plex but never got around to. Same director, same sharp dialogue, and sitting right there in your library.

Which service do you use?

Watch Tonight works with all three major self-hosted media platforms, plus Netflix via your diary.

1

Plex

Connect your Plex server and get recommendations pulled from your own library and watchlist.

2

Jellyfin

Open source, fully supported. Your Jellyfin library informs every recommendation.

3

Emby

Link your Emby server — same deep integration, same smart picks.

4

Netflix

No server needed. Log what you watch on Netflix, and we bridge the gap between your Letterboxd diary and your Netflix habit.

Frequently asked questions

Is my library data private?
Yes. KinoChain never stores your media files or full library contents. We only index titles you choose to sync, and connections are read-only wherever the service allows it. Your data is never shared or sold.
Do I need to self-host media servers to use this?
Not at all. Watch Tonight also works with Netflix and other streaming platforms via your logged watch history. You can also just use KinoChain as a film diary — recommendations improve the more you log.
How is this different from Plex's own recommendations?
Plex recommends based on what you've watched on Plex. KinoChain cross-references Plex against your entire watch history across all platforms, plus your Letterboxd-style ratings and reviews. It's a richer picture.
Can I use multiple services at once?
Yes. Connect Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby simultaneously, plus log Netflix watches manually or via import. The more sources, the better the recommendations.
