How to sync your Letterboxd watchlist with Plex (without a script)

Bridge your Letterboxd diary and Plex library without writing any code. KinoChain connects both services so your recommendations draw from what you own.
The gap between logging and watching
You log films on Letterboxd. You have hundreds of films on Plex. But there's no bridge between them — Letterboxd doesn't know what's on your server, and Plex doesn't know what you've rated on Letterboxd. KinoChain sits in the middle, connecting both so your logged taste informs what you should watch tonight from the library you actually own.
Step 1: Export your Letterboxd data
Go to your Letterboxd Settings → Data → Export and download the ZIP. This contains your full diary — every film you've logged, rated, reviewed, or added to your watchlist. It's a complete export of your taste profile.
Step 2: Import into KinoChain
In KinoChain, go to Settings → Import and upload the ZIP. KinoChain reads the CSV files inside and matches each film against TMDB's database. You'll review the matches before anything is saved — you control exactly what comes in.
Step 3: Connect your Plex server
Go to Settings → Apps and add a Plex connection. KinoChain indexes your Plex library titles (film name, year, TMDB ID) and cross-references them against your imported diary. The connection is read-only — your media files are never accessed.
Step 4: Get recommendations from your own library
Now when you visit Watch Tonight, KinoChain draws recommendations from films you actually own on Plex — matched against your full watch history from Letterboxd. Films you own but haven't watched get surfaced when they match directors, themes, and patterns in your logged taste.
The more you log, the smarter it gets. Each new diary entry teaches the system about what you love, and it finds more matches in your library.
