Stop scrolling. Start watching.
Your Plex library knows what you own. Your KinoChain diary knows what you love. Together, they tell you exactly what to watch tonight from films already sitting on your server.
How the Plex connection works
1
Authenticate securely
Link your Plex account via Plex's own authentication flow. The connection is read-only — we index your library titles but never access your media files.
2
Sync your library
KinoChain pulls in your Plex library structure — films, collections, and watchlist — and cross-references them with our film database.
3
Get matched recommendations
Your watch history plus your library equals smarter picks. Films you already own but haven't watched get surfaced when they match your taste profile.
What data we use
When you connect Plex to KinoChain, here's exactly what happens:
- We index the titles in your movie and TV libraries (title, year, TMDB ID if available)
- We sync your Plex watchlist
- We may sync watched status if you enable it
- We never access or store your media files, server credentials, or any user data beyond what's needed to match titles
Your Plex library remains entirely on your server. The connection is read-only and can be revoked at any time from your KinoChain settings.

Plex + KinoChain FAQ
- Do I need Plex Pass?
- No. The KinoChain integration works with any Plex server, free or with Plex Pass. You just need your server to be accessible (local network is fine — KinoChain doesn't connect directly; the sync happens client-side or via token).
- Will KinoChain see what's on my Plex server?
- KinoChain only indexes titles — film names, years, and TMDB IDs for matching. Your actual media files stay on your server and are never accessed.
- What about my Plex watchlist?
- Your Plex watchlist is synced and used as a source for recommendations. Films on your watchlist that you also own are prioritized.
- Can I disconnect at any time?
- Absolutely. Go to Settings → Apps and remove the Plex connection. All synced data will be cleared from KinoChain.
