The Rehearsal
2016 · TMDB 5.2
Directed by Alison Maclean
First-year acting student Stanley mines his girlfriend's family scandal as material for the end-of-year show at drama school. The result is a moral minefield.
Why it matters
Alison Maclean's documentary follows the New Zealand performance artist and comedian Tame Iti as he prepares a show that blurs the line between rehearsal and reality. The body is trained, marked and displayed, and the audience is never quite sure what is scripted and what is not.
