The Tracker

2002 · TMDB 6.8

Directed by Rolf de Heer

Somewhere in Australia in the early 20th century outback, an Aboriginal man is accused of murdering a white woman. Three white men are on a mission to capture him with the help of an experienced Indigenous man.

Why it matters

Rolf de Heer sends four men into the desert to find a fugitive, with David Gulpilil as the tracker who knows exactly what is happening. Peter Coad's paintings stand in for the violence the camera will not show.
