Night of the Living Dead

1968 · TMDB 7.6

Directed by George A. Romero

A ragtag group barricade themselves in an old Pennsylvania farmhouse to remain safe from a horde of flesh-eating ghouls ravaging the Northeast.

Why it matters

Romero's debut traps a group of strangers in a farmhouse and lets the dead gather outside. The ghouls are slow, the radio is the only link to the world, and the film's final image is a group of armed men doing exactly the wrong thing.
