Directed by David Cronenberg

The residents of a suburban high-rise apartment building are infected by parasites that turn them into mindless nymphomaniac fiends.

Why it matters

In a luxury apartment block on an island outside Montreal, a parasite turns residents into hosts driven by appetite. Cronenberg's first commercial feature treats the building itself as a body, with corridors, lifts and plumbing as its circulatory system.
