Fred Astaire was an incredible dancer. Can't take my eyes off him when he's moving. People seem to be marking this film harshly because of the blackface scene. While obviously unacceptable nowadays, this was 1942, people! Segragation in America was still 20 years away from being abolished. If it's an uncomplicated watch you're after, I suggest picking anything at random of Disney+. Alternatively, you can put your big boy pants on and grow the hell up. If you're that offended by a film from 80 years ago, you're going to hate real life in the 2020s.

Really enjoyable. My only annoyance with it is with the place name. It's a fictional Norfolk village called Wyndenham and they all pronouce it EXACTLY as it's spelled. If you've ever been to Norfolk, you'll know that's never the case. This place would be pronouced "Wine-em" or "Winn-em" or something random like "Witch-inger". That way, they know who's local and who to ignore :)

I love Woody but this is shit. Steve Gutenberg is the best thing about it and he deserves so much better. I wonder if on the DVD you can remove the dialogue and just watch the pretty locations and listen to the Gypsy Jazz soundtrack.
