When I was 12, my sister left home and I moved into her bedroom. Among the things she left behind was The Wanderers soundtrack on cassette. I'd never heard of the film, but that soundtrack was on repeat, and it still is. It's packed with incredible songs. "My Boyfriend's Back" by the Angels was always my number one, "Sherry","Baby It's You", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Shout", "You Really Got A Hold Of Me".
Thirty-four years later, I've finally got around to watching the film. I was expecting something like a grittier, rougher American Graffiti.
Instead...
It's shit.
The soundtrack is still a banger, though.
And Karen Allen is brilliant. Somehow I always knew she'd be the sort of woman who'd have been into early Dylan.
