Accidental watch. It was on tv and the wife didn't want to watch the news. It's brilliant, obviously. Spielberg should've won the Oscar for this in 94!

Hot Fuzz

Too long by about 15 mins. Still loads of fun!

Watched this for the first time when I was 15. Recorded of the TV and it must have been BBC 2 because I can't remember my recording having advert breaks. It's still the best film. It's still Christian Slater's best film (even if my wife disagrees). It's got the best soundtrack ever and it's still the only film that made me scan every radio frequency after watching, trying to find a pirate radio station! I could watch this every day.

I love Bobcat. He makes the kind of films I want to watch. Murray and Barr are great in this too. I don't want this to be used as police evidence but I've been thinking more and more about this film recently, since the rise of Trump, the insurgent far right/Farage in the UK, TV shows like Virgin Island, the Naked Truth, Love Island, my kids repeating stuff they've seen on TikTok, people parroting crap they've read in the Daily Mail, people who have "done their own research", GB News. Yeah, I think about it a lot.

Fight Club

I watched this when it came out at the age of 19. Thought it was the best film I'd ever seen. At the age of 44, I realise I didn't fully understand it. This film (and book) saw the future. It saw Andrew Tate and Russell Brand poison. It saw populism politics. It predicted every toxic masculinity trope used today. Just pathetic men being pathetic. Incredible!

Just watched the last half of this on channel 4 tonight and my review has lowered. During my first lecture on a film studies course that I didn't complete, the lecturer got us all to say "TARANTINO" really loud and then said "that's the last time we will say his name" and I thought, in 1998, that he was talking shit because QT had recently released his greatest film (JB, obviously). But he was right. QT is the worst and this is his worst film. What a bag of absolute shit. Why was this even allowed?! Please studios, stop giving this man money to make his puerile shite

Blade

This is the best marvel film. That's faint praise, obviously but it's the only one I like. Back when marvel had balls (full disclosure, I also love daredevil) Tech nerd stuff: I watched my DVD 576p rip via Plex, upscaled, and it looked amazing. Blu-ray/HD is arse

Apart from the terrible 3d stuff, this is still great!
