This has been my favourite film since I first saw it on TV in the early nineties. It was on late night, the radio times had awarded it 2 stars and I couldn't work out why no one else I knew had even heard about it! Still brilliant. Still makes me laugh hard. Tim Curry is still amazing.

The behind the scenes stuff is great but if you've already seen The Shark is Not Working, it doesn't really add much. Enjoyable though and I could watch Jaws documentaries forever!

It's still the best screen adaptation of the story. Michael Caine is brilliant. When he starts singing with Belle, it gets me every time. Oh, and the fact that Disney cut out Belle's song after the original DVD release is everything that's wrong with cinema today and especially Disney

Why isn't this better known? It should be regular Christmas viewing. Funny, moving. A big warm hug of a film

When I was 9 or 10, the naked gun and airplane were the funniest films I'd ever seen. Sometimes, things should just be left at that. Placed in a box, locked and key thrown away.

This remains the best superhero film. I think Kevin Smith (or Michael Uslan) said Batman (89) was a Batman film directed by Tim Burton. Batman Returns was a Tim Burton film starring Batman, and he's pretty much on the money. The big superhero movie of 92 (y'know, for kids!) had a baby being dumped in a river and 2...possibly 4 people being set on fire in the first 15 minutes! It's violent and pure film and I love it! The sets are incredible. Miniature work too. The production design in general is just wonderful. Everything looks so real and lived in. This is the kind of film CG ruined. Things of note: The Penguin was literally raised by penguins. Catwoman was resuscitated by actual cats. "I was their number 1 son. Treated as number 2" Pfeiffer's transformation is so good. Hell Here. "I mistook me for someone else" "I'd like to fill her void" "Just the pussy I've been looking for" Can you even imagine this script getting produced today?! For a big summer tent pole movie?!!! We got turned away from seeing this in the cinema as my sister was under 12 on release, but I got the VHS for Christmas in 1992. We weren't allowed to watch TV on Christmas day so I woke up at 5am on Boxing Day to watch it. Amongst all the freaks, Christopher Walken is the biggest villain. They should've let him dance though. I learned at age 12 that specific soups can be served cold The Penguin is basically Frank Reynolds in comic book form Pfeiffer and Devito are brilliant. Trying to act each other off the screen. But swallowing the budgie tops it...no, foaming black liquid all the time..no...etc Devito lying and groaning on the bed while Pfeiffer licks herself! Danny Elfman's score for this is incredible. I enjoy the 89 one. Jack's great and Keaton saying "you wanna get nuts?!!" is great but boy it has nothing on this. The moment they realise who each other really are!! The Penguins doing a Herod Bruce Timm said they produced Batman the animated series using black paper. Pretty sure Burton did the same with this. I love this film, not sure if I've made that clear....

20th Century Fox Sherlocks looked amazing. Such a shame they didn't make any more

Starts off strong. As good as any Powell and Pressburger film. Tails off in the middle to a so-so ending.

Back in the 80s/90s/00s, when you visted the video shop and the films you wanted to rent were all on loan, you got to search through all the stuff you've never heard of (small independent releases/STV etc). You weren't always guaranteed a good time but every so often, you hit a gem. There just doesn't seem to be an equivalent these days. Youtube is fine, as long as you realise you're battling with a billion other videos. So when a director uses a marketing list to ask people to watch it...why not? The amount of emails I get asking me to buy things. He just wanted me to watch something...for free. And it was good! Solid story, decent acting, shot really well. Good effort!

Well, this was wonderful. Comparisons to Before Sunrise are correct, if lazy. Mark Kermode likened it to Brief Encounter, which is pretty much on the money. All humans should be killed is a t-shirt I need.

It's beautiful to look at. The lighting is wonderful. The performances are all great. Tailed off a little towards the end for me but otherwise, it was...good. However, the narration was terrible and unnecessary. Also, the aspect ratio was fine and if I'd seen this in a cinema, those trees and vistas would've looked incredible. But on my (largeish) TV, it looked like I was watching it through a Viewmaster. And if we all watched films the way the Netflix CEO wants us to (on a phone or a potato or something), it'd have looked ridiculous. What a strange choice of distributor. Netflix is awful

Didn't enjoy this when I was 17. But that's because I was a dick. It's awesome. Favreau, Vaughn and Liman are so money.

It's December, which means I, for reasons unknown, try to watch all the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes films in order before Christmas Day and fail. But this is great. Rathbone is a wonderful Holmes. Bruce is a bumbling, buffoonish but likeable Watson. I love the bits in 221b Baker Street, the biggest "rooms" in London by all accounts. These houses are MASSIVE. And the London pavement kerbs...MASSIVE! Love American versions of Britain.

With the reviews on here and being the film Armitage directed before Grosse Point Blank, I was expecting big things for this and I got it... It was a big fat shit

I thought the bad reviews for this were probably unfair. How could you go wrong with peak Kevin Williamson and Joey Potter?! Apparently, very easily. It plays like some terrible Dawson's Creek fanfic. They tie a horrible teacher up for days and then get away with it....and we're all happy because she got fired, they all graduated and Joey got everything she wanted?! The USA truly is a blackhole of morality. I saw a teacher lift a 15 year old boy off the ground by his shirt collar and scream in his face only 4 years before this film came out. The boy in question was an absolute c-word and deserved every bit of it. This same teacher managed to get a C out of me in maths and I can barely count. I imagine he retired early with an amazing pension. Now THAT's a happy ending! HOWEVER, Wes Craven missed a trick not casting Katie Holmes as Sydney Prescott. She'd have been awesome.

The kind of film that could only have been made in the UK at the end of the 90s with all the swagger and confidence of the film scene in Britain at the end of the century. Danny Dyer is brilliant. Cameo from Mr Nice. Great soundtrack. Far too much voiceover.

This was reviewed at the time as a pulp fiction rip off but honestly, I'd happily watch this over Pulp. Sarah Polley, Katie Holmes and Timothy O are great and this really should've been Desmond Askew's calling card for Hollywood: both annoying and hilarious. Also, Doug Liman can direct the shit out of a car chase!

My older brother bought this on VHS in 93 and apparently, we watched it so much that 32 years later I know every beat and... it's still brilliant. Really funny. Kubrick was absolutely right!

The true sequel to American Graffiti and Rory Cochrane is the bomb! Also, the paddling thing is what happens when somewhere rejects the rules and boundaries of its founding countries and sets absolutely no new ones for themselves. Bloody libertarians.

This looked interesting back in 96 (UK release year) but no chance the Stoke Odeon would have shown it and less chance that the local video shop would've stocked it the following year which is a shame because it's amazing. Beautifully shot, funny, weird. Jim Jarmusch just isn't talked about enough. He was killing it in the 90s!
